First Choice Re-Opening Procedures:

We have given careful thought to our reopening procedures, in order to keep both our students and tutors safe. We will likely need to update this as we learn more. We plan on resuming private tutoring in the office on June 29. We do not feel that we will be able to provide adequate social distancing for the group classes, so the group classes will remain online via zoom for the summer of 2020. Below are some of the steps we plan on taking to ensure safety:

• Students who would like private tutoring, have the option of either online tutoring or coming to the office.  There will be a plexi-glass barrier between the student and the tutor.  Tutors and students are required to wear Facemasks in the office.  
• The desk, plex-glass shield, and contact surfaces (door knobs) will be cleaned with either Lysol Wipes or Clorox wipes (or a similar disinfectant) in between sessions.
• We will require students to take their temperature before coming in and if they have a temperature they can convert their tutoring sessions from in the office to Zoom.
• The front door to the building will remain locked and the tutor will go outside to let students inside for their session. If you are able to park next to the building, please stay in your car until your tutor comes out to let you inside the building.
• We will have hand sanitizer available in the front of the office.
• For the private tutoring, we will have no shared materials – instead of writing on scratch paper to share with students, we offer other options.
• Students will need to bring in their own pencils, pens, calculator, and text book (we provide the text book, and the first time we give the text book to a student we will first wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe).
• We will have the office professionally cleaned once a week.
• We have taken the clean slate pledge which means that:
  • All employees will take their temperature prior to coming to the office
  • We will track hand washing of employees
  • We will track when we clean the office

• We will only allow 8 students in our office for Practice Tests.  Students will need to wear facemasks.  Pre registration will be required.  To view the schedule and pre-register, follow this link.
• Whenever we are offering the test in the office, we will also proctor exams via Zoom.  Students will need to have a video camera, and we will send them 3 practice tests at the beginning of the class/tutoring sessions.  They will take the test at their home and then send us the answer sheet.  If they need more tests, we will provide them.  

Teaching online is nothing new for us – we already teach many students online, in both classroom and private tutoring formats. Students will still be meeting with their regular tutors and getting access to the same high-quality instruction that our families expect from First Choice. 

We recommend that you try out the online system ahead of time.  We utilize Zoom, and here is a link to Frequently Asked Questions about accessing Zoom meetings.  An added benefit is that after each session has been completed, the session link will bring you to a recording of the session.
